FROM THE INTRO: The American Nurses Association (ANA) identified nursing informatics as a nursing specialty in 1992. The first scope of practice statement for this specialty, Scope of Practice for Nursing Informatics, was published in 1994, followed by the 1995 release of an accompanying resource, Standards of Practice for Nursing Informatics.
